The Shigue are newcomers to the stellar region, arriving from a generations long journey across the Galaxy where they have fled something that killed their home worlds. Aboard their massive havenhold vessels they have attempted to save as much from their old biomes as possible along with local species and fauna that are as alien as them.
They initially attempted to negotiate with human traders for locations that they could settle. These merchants duped them and the Hegemon, which does not acknowledge non-human, exterminated thousands.
Now, the Shigue struggle to survive as they are hunted by the Hegemon who view them as a unique and exciting form of entertainment. Hunting safaris have become all the rage amongst the upper class, commissioning fleets and armies to root out populations and, the greatest prize of all, subdue a havenhold.
The Shigue are the primary defenders of all the species of the Migration. Having travelled for hundreds of generations, they are completely dedicated in finding a new home world after the loss of their original star system to an unknown cataclysm. Originally seeking peaceful colonization, after the Hegemon attacked their colony ships, an all out war for their survival.
Smaller cousins to the Shigue, the Kau’eg were once the most common instance of the Migration. Acting as scouts, they often operate further afield, sometimes entire star systems ahead of the fleets and will engage in communication with native populations.
